Personal Narratives

This intense narrative tells two sides of the story of Sherman's March.

Travis, from the North

Today we began our march after defeating the Feds in Chatanooga. They put up a fair battle for being "Slightly" outnumber.. haha. Now Sherman has recieved orders from to "Clear out" the south.
We assembled our 100,000 man to march through the south. We will wipe out everything thing in our paths in Georgia. We'll destroy homes, farms, plantations, railroads, and forests. Tomorrow we'll take Atlanta!
We took Atlanta, and Savannah by storm. Now we are so close to Johnston we can almost taste it. In fact, just this morning we found a recently abandoned camping spot with southern weapons at the site. Johnston has been running since Chatanooga, we can't wait to fight his troops.
Finally we caught him! We caught Johnston, once we left North Carolina we saw three southern troops abandoning the army to check on there family. We captutred them and later released them because they told us Johnston's next move. As soon as we caught him a northern messanger arrived and told us that Lee had surrendered and we had won the war!

Steve, from the South

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! There must have been 50,000 of 'em! As we retreat from Chatanooga, we see the smoke from absolute destruction of everything.. Now my family is traveling with the army because they've destroyed my home. We're on our way to Atlanta..
I believe the Union is very close. They are a fast traveling, light army, it does not seem like they ever need to resupply. Today we tried to reconcile with Sherman, but he won't agree unless we surrender. News from a messanger that General Lee is attempting to take over Richmond. As of now we are unsure of where to go.
My daughter has recieved a terrible cough from inhaling all the smoke produced by Sherman's dustruction of towns. I've been searching cities we go through for supplies, but it looks like everybody has just picked up shop and left. This may be our last day..
The last demoralizing blow by the Union.. Appomatox Courthouse. 1865 The war has finally ended. What is next for us i have yet to descover.
